Government of India decided to confer on Padma Bhushana to the great soul Dominique Lapierre in 2008. SHIS celebrated this noble occasion on 01st May when Dominique Dada and Dominique Didi visited SHIS and felicitated him amidst thousands of SHIS members, beneficiaries and distinguished guests.

It was on 5th May when President of India Her Excellency Pratibha Patil conferred on the award to Dominique at Rastrapati Bhavan in presence of Prime Minister, Cabinet Ministers and august gathering.
