Sarberia Milan Chakra Club is an eminent organization that awards Sunderbans Excellence Award every year to those who dedicate themselves for the people of Sunderbans. They honor the endeavor of such organizations/people who take care of the marooned and remotely located villagers. This year, MA Wohab, Director SHIS and Sabitri Pal, Director SHIS received the award for the philanthropic activities of SHIS, on 30th October, 2008. They were felicitated by the organizations amidst thousand of enthusiastic participants of the colorful ceremony. In their speech both Wohab and Sabitri narrated how they worked to stand by people for over thirty years. People were overwhelmed listening to their struggle for noble cause. Some of them burst into tears as they narrated the opposition they faced during their initial days of work. But today, the activities of SHIS in and around Sunderbans is well established and the organization is best known for people’s relief. |
