Dominique visits SHIS
The great author Dominique lapierre visited SHIS on Tuesday, the 3rd February, 2009 along with his spouse and accomplishes. This was his routine visit he makes every year to go round the action areas of SHIS, to see the progress of healthcare services and interact with beneficiaries. After he was given a warm welcome in SHIS Bhangar Center at 10 in the morning, he was taken to the various projects of SHIS. Later, he held discussions with Md. Wohab, the Director and Sabitri Pal, the President.
He was then taken to Bhandarkhali, an island in Sunderbans delta which is around 80 Km from SHIS by road and then 90 minutes journey by SHIS motor boat. Dominique went round the weekly boat and land clinic in Bhandarkhali and visited the Eye Care Center being run in the marooned island by SHIS Eye Care Hospital.  The visitors were accompanied by the Director and President of SHIS and other dignitaries. All of them were given warm reception by the villagers of Bhandarkhali and surrounding islands.
In his speech, Dominique said that he wished he stayed back with the villagers there to share their well and woe. SHIS acknowledges with gratitude the rich contribution of Dominique for over a decade.
