Girls Academy for underprivileged

Gender disparities still remain in both primary enrollment and school completion rates. Girl Children in the villages are utterly neglected for their education and knowledge. However, there are several compelling benefits associated with girls’ education, which include the reduction of child and maternal mortality, improvement of child nutrition and health, lower fertility rates, enhancement of women’s domestic role and their political participation, improvement of the economic productivity and growth, and protection of girls from HIV/AIDS, abuse and exploitation. Girls’ education yields some of the highest returns of all development investments, yielding both private and social

benefits that accrue to individuals, families, and society at large.

In order to enlighten the society, SHIS took a vow to educate the girl children of the Sunderbans villages. Sponsorship program for girl child education was started in 1995. After achieving a level of awareness among the parents regarding the necessity of education of the girls in this epoch, we have been supporting the most deprived sections of girl student till class X and in some cases also beyond. The program is mainly funded by Dr. Joachim Hacker of Germany, and SARI of France. Without their constant help the realization of the dream could have not been possible.
