Herbal

The
herbal medicinal therapeutic method was not new to the
village people nor they were unaware of it. But as one
of the effective remedies it could not establish its
so much efficacy for want of consistency in one hand
and copious applications of alternative drug as faster
and quickly gained treatment, through costs higher,
on the other. It was not at all easy in the beginning
to make believe the village people that cultivation
of herbal medicinal plants can play a significant role
in rural economy.

But our conscientious efforts through awareness campaign; mothers
meeting and conducting village level herbal clinic could able
to trounce the stumbling block initially delineated. The concept
of setting up nurseries in the villages smoothens the progress
of the project activities in true sense. As a result numbers
of women set up herbal plant cultivation programme either on
their own land or on let out terrain. We are proud of Terre
des Homes, Switzerland whose long-term supports and precious
guidance could make us possible to achieve the goal.
At present 3185 women are directly engaged in the project activities
i.e. cultivation of medicinal plants, a rise of 34 percent from
the previous year, and more than a ton of plants and parts thereof
were sold by the women beneficiaries, which resulted a lucrative
monthly income amounting to Rs. 400/- to Rs. 800/- per women.
Cultivation of Medicinal Plants (DBT)
Government of India through The department of Biotechnology
(DBT) has extended economic support for tissue culture and growing
popularity in cultivation of medicinal plants which form the
basic ingredient of general medicine. A Tissue culture laboratory
has been running successfully under supervision of specialist
and vitro gown plants are distributed to rural women, who are
being encouraged for cultivation of medicinal plants. SHIS acknowledges
its thanks to GOI for extending their support. |
