Malaria Control Program

Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and Coochbehar Districts, 3 of 19 districts of West Bengal are a hard-core Malaria prone area of the state.

SHIS started its own Malaria Control Program from the year 2001. Currently SHIS is having 2 operationalized unit in Jalpaiguri with close collaboration and adequate support from the North Bengal Forest Department in Chilapata and Rajabhatkhaowa Forest Region to provide Medical service not only to the fringe forest villages, but also to the villages which are remotely situated in deep forest areas.

During the meeting with North Bengal Forest Division, SHIS expressed desire to extend health services to as many of the forest villages of North Bengal as possible.

An offer was given to SHIS to take up the task of functioning of the Chalsa Medical Unit of Jalpaiguri Division. SHIS agreed to start their fourth unit in Chalsa as soon as it gets the green signals from the Forest Directorate. SHIS is in negotiation with H and FW Dept. Govt. of West Bengal for undertaking large-scale impregnation of Mosquito nets in Malaria prone Purulia district of West Bengal.
