Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and Coochbehar Districts, 3 of 19 districts of West Bengal are a hard-core Malaria prone area of the state.
SHIS started its own Malaria Control Program from the year 2001. Currently SHIS is having 2 operationalized unit in Jalpaiguri with close collaboration and adequate support from the North Bengal Forest Department in Chilapata and Rajabhatkhaowa Forest Region to provide Medical service not only to the fringe forest villages, but also to the villages which are remotely situated in deep forest areas.
During the meeting with North Bengal Forest Division, SHIS expressed desire to extend health services to as many of the forest villages of North Bengal as possible. |
