The educational development of children belonging to the deprived section of our society is a special focus in the SHIS Shishu Bikash Academy. Every activity under this programme identifies the benefit that will accrue to children from these communities. Many of the curriculum having a sharper focus on children from these communities. The participation of Minority Communities, Schedule Caste and Tribe in the affairs of the school are specially encouraged, especially the most disadvantaged. |

The SHIS Shishu Bikash Academy provides flexibility to develop a context specific intervention. Some interventions could be as follows :
- special teaching support as per need
- training programmes for motivation for schooling
- using community teachers
- monitoring attendance and retention of children from weaker sections regularly
- providing context specific intervention in the form of a hostel, an incentive or a special facility, as required.
- involving community leaders in school management
The SHIS Shishu Bikash Academy has developed context specific curriculum, over and above the mainstreamed curriculum, to tackle the problems in education. All the successful approach so far served as the guiding principle for preparing such curriculum.
