In some parts of the world people have been disproportionately affected by the HIV epidemic. Five STD clinics were set up in Sarberia, Hasnabad & Hamadama in North 24 Parganas and Bhangar & Basanti in South 24 Parganas, and Voluntary Counselling Testing Centre (VCTC) in Bhangar headquarter.
This newly introduced services Voluntary Counselling and Testing Centre (VCTC) gathers information, HIV infection rates among people. Multiple sex partners, unprotected sex and the hidden nature of sexual relations in many communities are contributing to the prevalence of HIV. In many countries there is very little data available on whether HIV is transmitted via heterosexual or homosexual intercourse. |

This programme has resulted in an increase in the number of patients coming forward, from amongst the general population for voluntary counselling and testing options. This in turn has helped reduce stigma associated with HIV, at individual, family and community level, through the strengthening of a multi sectoral response.
The initiatives of the organisation is to communicate with the patients by peer educator at SHIS Bhangar headquarter. Information cards which contain contact information of the recommended counselling services of SHIS are handed out during the couselling session.
