SHIS Institute for Socio Tech & Education Research (SISTER) has been considered as an institution that is responsive to and is available for providing technical assistance to SHIS for unfolding its potential capacities through research The goal of this institution will be to improve the capacity of SHIS by facilitating reform, technical innovations and improved information sharing among all the stake holders at the Institutional, National, State, District, Block levels, through specific capacity development and convergence models.

In line with its broad mandate, SISTER proposes to initiate professional course in health care, socio-economic and other academic courses as per need.

SISTER had recognized the crucial role of qualitative training institute in providing effective and efficient pre-service and in-service training for different categories, viz., health, social awareness and commitment, education, research, etc. One such course, DOCA (Diploma in Ophthalmic Clinical Assistant) has already been initiated under the affiliation of Vidyasagar University.
